Part 1. - Introduction to Massage |
|
On this weekend you will learn a simple full body massage and it is therefore a complete course in itself making it suitable for anyone interested in learning basic massage skills. It is also an introduction to the professional training and provides an opportunity to decide if this training is appropriate for you. |

Part 2 – Professional Training 2008/9 |
|
Parts 2 - 10 provide a full professional training leading to the Massage Training Institute Diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology. The course comprises one weekend per month as follows: |

Cost: £1350 including MTI registration and examination fees.

The Syllabus includes: |

Full body massage, which students will practise on each other within the class and on clients within the clinic.

Anatomy, physiology and pathology including contraindications for massage.

Body use, relaxation and self awareness through meditation, movement and practical work.

Inter personal skills and client care.
-
Development of sensitivity, empathy and respect within the therapeutic relationship.

Awareness of the human energy field.
-
Physical, mental and emotional effects of massage.
-
Appropriate conditions, environment and equipment for massage.

Quality and style of massage.

Conducting a treatment session including case discussions, planning treatments, reviewing etc.

Professional, legal, ethical issues and business planning.

Underpinning knowledge e.g. history of massage, first aid, exercise, diet and nutrition, health and social care.

| Christine has worked in the field of education and psychology for over twenty five years. In 1989 she qualified as a massage therapist and has been teaching massage for twelve years. She is a registered tutor of The Massage Training Institute. |

Course accreditation: |
|
MTI is a member of the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT). Through membership of the GCMT, MTI is actively involved in the process of setting accreditation standards in this country — as required by the government, and in line with developments in Europe. MTI courses are also recognised by the Department for Education and Employment.

MTI Diploma requirements:
The MTI Diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy physiology and pathology will be awarded to students who: |
| |
- Attend all sessions (Students will be required to make up all hours missed at their own expense)
- Successfully complete the practical course including the internal course assessments to the satisfaction of the MTI registered tutor.
- Complete a journal of at least 40 hours of massage given and 10 hours of massage received outside the course hours.
- Attain a First Aid Certificate
- Complete all written assignments including a business plan.
- Pass the anatomy, physiology and pathology examination
- Pass the external practical assessment
- Pay all course fees, examination fees and course expenses.

Students must be over 18 years of age, have an adequate understanding of the English language and be capable of meeting the physical demands of massage. |
